FLUX 1 Dev is the open-weight midpoint of the FLUX.1 text-to-image family that Black Forest Labs launched on 1 August 2024. It is a 12-billion-parameter rectified flow transformer distilled directly from the proprietary FLUX.1 pro, trained with guidance distillation so it runs more efficiently while keeping similar output quality. The weights are public under the FLUX.1 non-commercial license.
At launch Black Forest Labs published benchmark results claiming FLUX.1 pro and dev beat Midjourney v6.0, DALL-E 3 HD and SD3-Ultra on visual quality, prompt adherence, typography and output diversity.
